Why There’s a Buzz About Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil in Beauty Products
Anytime you hear “cannabis,” it leads to an obvious question: “Does it get me high?”
And the answer is “No, dude.”
Cannabis sativa seed oil – also known as hemp seed oil – is extracted by cold pressing hemp seeds found in the hemp plant. These seeds do not contain any concentration of CBD (short for cannabidiol.) Nor do they contain THC (short for tetrahydrocannabinol.) Without CBD or THC, there is no high. So, hemp seed oil has no psychoactive properties whatsoever.
Now, the next obvious question is, “So why even put cannabis sativa seed oil in beauty products?”
Great question.
Here’s why it’s used so prevalently these days in more and more beauty products.. . .
What really highlights cannabis sativa seed oil’s beautifying properties, though, is its anti-inflammatory effects?
Inflammation is at the core of our skin’s “imperfections” – whether it’s acne, psoriasis, eczema, or just good old-fashioned aging. The oil’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties make it an effective treatment for practically every type of skin condition. And your skin’s pores instantly and fully absorb the oil’s extracts.
In essence, the cannabis sativa seed oil goes to work and acts as a “balancer” for skin when oil production is just out of whack.
After regular use, your skin will “bounce back” and recapture its youthful glow while restoring itself. Obviously there is just no way to entirely stop the effects of time. But, we can do our best to slow the clock down and maybe turn it back a bit.
Now, think of your hair and its glow the same you would your skin. Instead of applying chemicals to one of your body’s most valuable assets, why not treat it with healthy, all-natural products?
Dehydration, exposure to the elements, prolonged use of chemically-based products . . . those things add up over time.
Fact: Chemicals are proven to disrupt the scalp’s pH balance and “strip” the hair follicles. The damage is inevitable, really, but . . . hair is resilient, and we can restore it much the same as we can our skin.
When you peruse the ingredients in some of the more popular products in our Gloss.ME Collection, such as our hydrating conditioner and hydrating treatment mask, you’ll see our (not so) secret ingredient: cannabis sativa seed oil. Of course, it’s blended into our already near-perfect recipe of hydrolyzed soy protein, moringa seed oil, rice bran oil, and argan oil.
There’s a long list of other brands that actively promote cannabis sativa seed oil in their own product lines too:
Milk Makeup’s Kush Fiber Brow Gel lists cannabis sativa seed oil in its ingredients, while Cannuka Nourishing Body Cream has hemp seed oil and CBD isolate. Hemp phytocannabinoid and cannabis sativa seed oil also goes into another popular product in skincare, Kana Skincare Lavender CBD Sleeping Mask.
Given the prevalence of cannabis sativa seed oil in the beauty products industry, it’s safe to say it’s the “new normal” and not an exception. And rest assured (or disappointed, depending on your stance), there is no “high” associated with it. It’s just clean, all-natural hair and skin care to make you your beautiful self.
